    Manuel Varela Limia

    He was a military engineer who promoted the first national network of optical telegraphy in Spain is worthy of mention. You will find the Huerta of Don Pepito in calle Emilio González, owned by the brigadier’s descendants.

  • Seaia, 1738 – ?

    Pedro Cambón

    The Franciscan Pedro Cambón was born in the parish of Seaia in 1738. This missionary was one of the co-founders (1776) of the San Francisco de Assisi Mission, from which the cosmopolitan city of San Francisco (United States) emerged. Another Franciscan from Malpica who went to the New World was Juan Riobo; who preached in Old and New California and was the chaplain in an exploration of the Alaskan coast.

    Urbano Lugrís

    He was a surrealist painter who worked with different techniques: murals, silkscreen, collages, oil painting … works with clear references to the seafaring world. Although born in A Coruña, Lugris established a special relationship with Malpica, where he left a personal and unforgettable pictorial imprint.     Anselmo Villar Amigo

    We must not forget Anselmo Villar Amigo, he was from Malpica and he made his fortune in Buenos Aires; he paid for works which were very important for the town such as the dry dock and the wall of the ramp of the old harbour, the former food market (currently the Town Hall).
